HTC Wildfire S Popularity has Spread like Wildfire Only!
The HTC Wildfire S is the enhanced version of the original Widlfire and so far it has done well in the market place here.
Many people in the UK, do not realise that after the seminal HTC Desire handset, the next most successful brand that HTC Corporation got to give to the mobile phone world even today is the `Wildfire' name. Though it is also true, that in the minds of the average smartphone user here, the HTC Widlfire is still one of the first smartphones to come laden with an impressive array of social networking related features. HTC realises this and hence not lost much in bringing out the next generation Wildfire.
The enhanced version of the Wildfire does look okay on many counts!
The Taiwanese mobile phone maker has thought it fit to give the HTC Widlfire S not just the `Wildfire' brand name but also the all important `S' moniker. This only shows how important enough a smartphone handset the HTC Widlfire S is to HTC Corporation. But it often happens that the maker lays so much significance to a particular mobile phone device but fails to deliver on the fronts where it actually matters.
Let us see for ourselves whether this has been the case with the HTC Widlfire S as well. Beside the point that how good the phone actually is performance wise, the only other factor to consider will b e the prices. We have to see if it is a value for money deal that the buyer is getting or the various HTC Wildfire S deals are on the higher side for the users. The average users are in any case, intelligent enough to decipher how much value a particular handset is delivering and whether the cost justifies this set of offerings.
This we believe is what should constitute a sound and complete analysis of all smartphone handsets, the HTC Wildfire S included.
Let us now go in to the bare details of the various pluses and minuses that we see in the HTC Wildfire S.
Here, it is worthwhile to have a basic grasp of the background in which this smartphone came into our midst. The HTC Wildfire S was also launched along with the iconic HTC Desire towards the middle of 2010. The Desire, camera couple of months earlier. Both these smartphone handsets formed for a substantial portion of the potentail b uyers here the first set of really affordable smartphones that seemed to possess just about everything that any smartphone user could wish for.
The less strong processor is something that could have been avoided!
On the price front, in particular, it was the HTC Wildfire S that was selling at much chearp perices and this natually attracted buyers in hordes. The impact that the original Wildfire generated was only second only to the dizzying heights that the Desire touched. It suddenly seemed to be two smartphone that just about every one was happy with – the maker, the network service providers, and last but not the least the valued buyers. It goes witout saying here, that the only set of people complaining would have been the rival smartphone makers!
Coming back to the HTC Widlfire S, today it may seem a lot less impactful because technology has changed lot of things and brought in lot of new aspects to consider as well.
While we do appreciate the fact that HTC Corporation has thought it fit to upgrade the Android platform to the latest Android 2.3 Gingerbread version fo the opeating system, the same cannot be said about the processor. It is really beyond our understanding as to why HTC was happy giving the HTC Wildfire S only a 600 Mhz chip set. With everything else on the fast lane, how can you afford to have a less powerful engine?
The unibody design is fine. So is the five mega pixel camera. But the video recording left much to be desired. We have been unable to figure out why exactly this is so. As the quality of still images taken by the same snapper is good enough. The other major dampner is the fact that there is no compatibility with DivX and Xvid file formats. Meaning no video playback on these two very popular formats.
Again on the positive side, the mobile internet, data networking and social networking are one of the best. What is more. It still continues to stand on its own even with this new crop of dual core processor driven smartphones in the market place.
Prices are the lowest ever!
